Man Arrested For Shooting Two Deputies

The man arrested for allegedly shooting at Madison County sheriff’s deputies is being held in jail without a bond. Edgar James Egbert appeared in court on Friday afternoon, where he had a preliminary hearing scheduled for Sept. 24 in Madison County. Egbert faces six counts of attempted murder of law enforcement officers, one count of kidnapping and one count of felony fleeing. The shooting happened on Thursday in Canton following a chase that ended with two Madison County sheriff’s deputies wounded, including Brad Sullivan who was shot in the head, and remains hospitalized in critical condition.
